This is the blog that I log when I get a minute at the end of the day to rap and reflect on life as a husband, father of three boys, and striving musician.

Hangin' with the boys
Wild wackiness are these holiday seasonings. The boys continue to grow and grow. Kid E and Kid I have become quite vocal and inquisitive. Both can stand for a 7 or 8 count, and have a pretty firm grasp that iphones, mom's necklaces, and dad's chest hair are funner to grab then toys. Both are pronouncing their da's, ma's, ba's, and you suck Vikings. Here are a few highlights. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFHwsSAfi7E

Have you ever been to...Electric Lunch Lady Land?
"I see we meet again...hmmm." said Jimi to the crowd at Woodstock, as I say to you all now. So the boys are growing like wild little man cubs grow, we are just a week away from nine months. Both smiles are accompanied by chubby cheeks and two lower front teeth, they can both stand holding on to stuff and the little dare devils let go and risk(especially Isaac) toppling straight back for the thrill of discovery. The jabberwocky that streams from their mouths all day is pretty intense like great music to mom and dad's ears. You can hear amidst the blabber the beginnings of language...so cool!
At the forefront of this amazingly rapid growth and change is Chef Mommy Marie. Four to five nights a week after she gets home from her job to her two beautiful children and blogging loser musician husband, after bed time for babes, she gets into the kitchen and goes to town on creating an entire menu of homemade nutritious food for the guys.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PY-O17VIvho Here is a little clip of us dudes hangin' out at the end of a weekday lunching on mom's delicious creations. Stay tuned and be on the lookout for a new blog coming out soon too. Marie has been filming and photo-ing her work and is going to start bringing kuchina de la Marie to the bloggerverse!

Breaking News: Another Kid-napping caught on camera
Yes people, this is actual footage of a kid napping caught on camera. Observe the child in the left frame standing in his crib, carrying on without a care, yelling out to his parents about how he doesn't need a nap and a flash later...another victim of the nap bandit! Increased reports have been surfacing of such activity at home and abroad, authorities are baffled yet still hanging up when I report it. So keep a watchful eye and if you're lucky, yours could be next!

This is what a jack-o-lantern looks like when u have two kids and no time.
I see we meet again...briefly. It has been awhile, yes two eight and half month olds are kicking my ass daily. Yes I no longer have a minute to spare during the day or the energy to spare at night to editing film. The show must go on though and so I have tried to substitute filming with the sony, with my new eye phone...the first nice phone I've ever owned. As always things are a process and this new little montage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzfqAg6uTqY is not the best quality but i'll figure it out and soon y'all be callin' me the i phone Coppola. Peace! Happy candy hunting!

Do everything turn turn...
...there is a season turn, turn. And so the song goes. Man oh man, I know change is inevitable but the speed at which it happens once kids enter your life, makes even this kid dizzy. Our whole apartment is about to become plastic fence, the cribs have been lowered, changing a poopy while a kid is trying to get away has become sooo much fun!! Once they got off their backs a month ago, we can't keep up. They are like a couple sand crabs scuttling around on the beach. So here we have episode 6 of Rockstar Daddydaycare http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOo2oKueM0E and yes, I finally edited something down to less than five minutes. By the time I posted this, they already changed again.

Bottles and cans and just clap your hands...
If you haven't checked out aunt Lisa's photos of the boys at her website you're missing out. www.lisakivett.blogspot.com is the place to be, Digital Wonderland Photography is the name. Thank you aunt Lisa. Her last entry was about her weekend helping watch the boys while Marie and I slipped up to Santa Cruz for our first night away from double fun/trouble. She mentioned the thousand bottles one has to wash a day for these two demanding feeders. And this is what she was talking about. Luckily all those years in the restraunt industry has prepped me to be a pro bottle washer.

Gimmee the good stuff!!
Well! Besides the biggest news that Evan is fully crawling(at seven months!) and Isaac is army crawling, faster and more curious, the boys are on a three solid meals a day schedule and they both love it. This is cool for a couple reasons. Firstly thanks Aunt Lisa for the baby food maker. I'll be posting the video soon, but this ties in my second mission behind posting the vids. Beside letting the fam and friends watch these two grow I want to provide a good example on how to raise your kids right and healthy.
Marie has been making them all natural meals from peas to pears, not from a jar. I'm tired of watching bad parenting(Teen Mom) on tv, and maybe these vids coming out will inspire one or two peoples out there. Keep in mind the first five videos are more of an example of how crazy it is to be a new parent. It takes courage to let the world see you run around with brain meltdown. Ha!

Rehab for Elmo?
I believe we have before us the most annoying toy in the world. It makes a squeaky noise when you shake it, kind of like Elmo on crack and speed. A close second is the lady's recorded voice in all of the v-tech brand toys. But this takes the cake. Funny enough I find myself playing with it.

If you can't take the heat...
...turn on the ac! Record heat and humidity here in SD. It was 97 yesterday in downtown and the humidity from Sunday's storm left the boys and I boiling! Poor Evan had a heat rash from his helmet and rockstar stupid daddy didn't turn the air on until we were all sweaty messes. Of course I didn't make the same mistake before today became a scorcher but what is going on here? Yesterday was a record high around these parts. I'm not really into the whole global warming debate yet I don't live with my head in the sand. Every major city in the U.S. has broke and rebroke their record highs in the last three years. I was watching the weather channel(yes I am that boring) and the last decade has been one big can of whoop ass that nature is serving us from heat to natural disasters, snowfall and floods, humanity is taking a beating. I guess what i'm driving at is what is in store for the next ten? I'd like to know because yes...I have kids now. Anyone out there care to comment? Am I being paranoid? Don't answer that, of course I am. Paranoia is just animal instinct telling me something might be a bit off in the global balance of things and if it isn't enough that San Diego living is expensive, add kids and a big ac bill...jeez! But there was some killer waves!

And the hits just keep on comin'
Wow what a weekend!
In case you haven't heard the album yet, and judging by sales, you haven't! Just kidding it's not out yet. By christmas for sure. Stay updated on the CountryRockin' Rebels facebook page. It's tough you know, my rebel bro in arms, Mikey Head has a son too and they were hanging out all summer on the golf course(which is the best and only excuse). But he's back and final mastering is underway. Anyway, the lyric is from the tune "Indian Wind" which I wrote(surprise!) about Marie and I's courtship and it go, "some say you break your neck at this speed I don't agree I think time move to slow..." Well I might have to modify that one because the whirlwind that is raising kids is here.
Marie and I had our first night away from E and I this labor day weekend. On Friday we picked up her sis Lisa, nana and grandpa who initiated operation 'Rockstar Nannydaycare' while we flew up to San Fran for the night and attended the wedding of our friends Sean and Mari in beautiful Santa Cruz. It was a one day trip, flew in, drove out and back into Frisco to hangout with Marie's other sis Amy and her husband Take. And to round out the party we had a nice surprise when Marie's bro Phillip and his fiance' Lin drove in from Fres and we all chopped it up for the night. I was worked by evening's end and the next day after breakfast we flew back down. Now the point of my ramblings...Gone for twenty fours and all of a sudden Evan who wasn't quite getting the whole eating of solids thing, was finishing his whole dish of sweet potatoes. Isaac was already there, Evan not yet until we were gone for a blink! Not only that but Evan graduated to sitting up as a prefered method of viewing the world and Isaac has gone from a mini steam roller to a full on scooter for his transportation. This kind of change is crazy man! My head is spinnin'! I need some couch time watching football to get a grip!
Maybe I change the lyric to ,"some say you poop your pants at this speed, I must agree I wish time would move more slow". I don't know, I NEED MORE TIME TO THINK ABOUT IT! any suggestions?

Jumpy jump, poopy poop, sleepy sleep...
...that's Isaac's new morning routine. Thank you Edgell's for bringing down Emily's jumpy, i've never seen poop streaks up the back like that! It's another example of how yin and yang these two are. Ai ai goes berserker like he's on a pogo stick with hyper drive and Eh eh just chills, feels the textures plays the music, watches the lights. The main result though so far is always that Isaac goes straight down for a nap and EVANtually gives in a little later.

Still to young for punk.
Just to clarify. No, Marie and I did not give Isaac a mohawk even though it appears that way(pretty funny and cute) in some of the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2yg-joLyYU. It's the lighting and the way his little hair patch is growing. I saw a kid, couldn't have been more than four, at one of the boys doc appointments last month. He had a purple mohawk. I kind of wanted to slap the father so hard the mom could feel it. Is that a little too aggresive?

I Rockstarized em'
In my former life as a pro waiter/restraunt extraordinaire I had the occasion to serve the likes of the (formerly?) great Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Drew Brees, Ted Waite, the ceo of Gateway, I could keep on going. Once Marie was pregnant though my most interesting clientele became people with kids, especially twins. I was told hundreds of stories, ways, methods on how parents have gone about the business of parenting. I met everyone from a French couple who Furberized their kids to Spanish people who would only teach their twins english(not sure why). I read about the Furber thing, and of course saw "Meet the Fokkers". I have to say though it's been very simple straight ahead rockstar method here. Nothing puts the kabosh on extreme fussiness like hugs, kisses, and a bottle. All with some good blues or maybe Elvis in the background. Marie plays classic country off the cable, also effective, but whatever the occasion calls for ya know. Any thoughts? I mean it's early still but could it be...I know what the hell i'm doing?

When parents get sick
Okay so I admit a little non-chalance in merely mentioning the family getting sick in my last post. For that I have paid. Last night we were freaking out when Evan's cough seemed to worsen and we started thinking pertussis even though he's been immunized on schedule. He's better today and it appears he is obviously having a rough time teething. I rarely get sick but I guess it's time to get used to it because by five or six last night my throat was sore and my muscles started aching. It was enough to send me to bed before nine which helped. I feel a bit better and good thing too because it's Sunday, and that means grocery day and a now routine trip to Target for formula and clothing that will last about a week on these two. So if there is a moral lesson here I guess it's that sooner or later mom and dad will get sick along with the little ones and you better get over it quick, after all Sunday only comes once a week.

Who does number two work for?
Anybody know the movie? Austin Powers.
Poor little babies had colds this week but they seem to be about through. Evan got the worse of it with goopy eyes and boogies galore, Isaac seemed to have a lesser version. Marie got it too a bit and I could be next but it's a necessary experience. Just like poopie...and since we're on the subject, man did I see a lot of poopie today! All variety of color, consistency, and smell. I'll spare further details but man was I in the trenches for awhile, and I cleaned the cat box today too. I think that puts me in some category of dookie expertise. Anyway, I've been getting some texts from fam and friends since I put the videos up on youtube. I try to answer everyone but I barely get a minute to do my own dookie so replying to all is a far off dream yet me thinks I can respond to a few here. So here it goes.
Evan is wearing a d.o.c. band on his head. He was the head down twin on bottom and since Marie went the distance(38 weeks!) and gave birth to 12.5 lbs!! of babies, poor little guy took his lumps. It happens more with twins. He is on his second band, they aren't cheap but I have to say the difference the first band made is so friggin phenomenal, it has a been a huge change! I've read a few articles on the history of the subject and it has made a significant difference in babies with conditions similar to Evans that not much could've been done about a few years back. His was considered a severe case but he is doing awesome with it and it's just really cool to witness how medical technology can help so much, take my word as I have also been witness to this in other forms, since this whole journey began. I would also like to say how cool it has been that family has been willing to help with the cost of Evan's little miracle helmet...chokes me up a bit...just talk amongst ya selves...a little verklempt. I guess i'm on a Mike Meyers movie quote kick, which probably means i'm delirious and need sleep, or a beer! Until the next few free minutes...

What a joy it is!
Wow, I can't believe the day is here. I get to sit down and actually write about these two boys without feeling to tired to blink after dinner. Evan and Isaac are a week past six months old...wait, i'm getting tired already. I've been working on getting this whole thing up and running for awhile but it's, well if you have kids you know...it's crazy. Anyway here we are and two beautiful boys who run my butt ragged everyday now are here for the family and world to see. The videos are available on www.youtube.com/user/rockstardaddydaycare I will continue to post when I have a minute.
Basically I ran the camera for a few months and wound up with hours of footage to sort through over a beer or glass of veeno, or both when the boys were sleeping. It's alot of work but they are worth it, and I found that by showing the real stuff like moments of frustration and discovery of being alive and being a parent, there is some some stuff thats interesting to watch as both entertainment and educational, in other words it's tough as hell and fun as hell to be a parent. So without much ado, here is where it all begins!
